Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside Brings Safe Drinking Water to Torres de la Paz

Seaside Rotary Water Filtration Project

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo – The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside is proud to announce the successful installation of a new clean water filtration system in the community of Torres de la Paz, marking the club’s second major clean water project in the region. The new system, installed on the grounds of the Contando con un Amigo community school under the direction of Martha Honorina Herrera, will provide hundreds of children and families with reliable access to safe, purified drinking water.

The filtration equipment and installation were provided by Copper Control, whose technical expertise and on-site supervision ensured the system’s successful launch and long-term sustainability. This initiative was made possible through the generous financial support of the Rotary Club of Cambridge Preston-Hespeler (Canada) and Lori Gold, founder of Mexperts®, whose donation helped bring the project to completion.

A Growing Commitment to Clean Water Access

This new installation builds on Seaside Rotary’s ongoing mission to deliver sustainable clean water solutions to underserved communities throughout Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya. Earlier this year, the club restored a water purification facility in Cristo Rey, a project originally installed nearly a decade ago, demonstrating Rotary’s continued investment in long-term community health.

With Torres de la Paz now benefiting from a modern, professionally installed filtration system, Seaside Rotary hopes to build momentum and secure support for additional installations across the region.

Local Impact, Global Reach

Access to clean, safe drinking water remains one of Rotary International’s seven global Areas of Focus, and this project reflects the power of international cooperation. By combining local insight with global partnerships, Seaside Rotary continues to support the well-being of vulnerable children and families while strengthening community infrastructure.

This new system at Torres de la Paz is another step toward ensuring that every child has access to clean, safe drinking water,” said club President Susana Hawley. “We are deeply grateful to our international partners in Canada and to Lori Gold for helping make this possible. Together, we are creating meaningful, lasting change.

Copper Control will continue to oversee the system’s ongoing maintenance, ensuring proper function and water quality for months and years to come. Their involvement is essential to the long-term sustainability of the system and the health of the families who rely on it.
