Tulum, Quintana Roo — A serious rollover crash on Federal Highway 307 left one person with severe injuries early Friday morning, prompting a large emergency response.
The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. on the stretch of road between Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Tulum, near kilometer 222. Authorities received a 911 call reporting the rollover and immediately dispatched medical units.
Municipal Health Department paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the driver, who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and a fractured left arm. Due to the severity of the injuries, paramedics transported the individual in critical condition to Playa del Carmen General Hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. National Guard personnel restricted access to information at the scene, even limiting media coverage.
Authorities seized the vehicle involved, a beige Nissan Versa with license plate NBC-558-C, and turned it over to the appropriate officials.
