Riviera Maya to Host Aquaponics Congress With Experts From More Than 10 Countries

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Riviera Maya will become an international meeting point for specialists, entrepreneurs and representatives of sectors tied to sustainable food production when it hosts the 10th International Aquaponics Congress from Nov. 4 to 6.

The event will bring together experts from Chile, Colombia, Oman, South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, Costa Rica and Mexico, who will share knowledge and experience on aquaponics, agrotourism, aquaculture, new technologies and business models linked to sustainable food production.

Producing More With Fewer Resources

One of the central themes will be aquaponics, a circular production system that combines fish farming with plant cultivation, using resources efficiently and cutting the waste of water, energy and other inputs.

The congress will also address the circular economy, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, marketing, financing and the development of new business models, with special content and benefits for residents of Quintana Roo.

As part of the program, organizers will inaugurate Quintana Roo’s first aquaponics system built around an agrotourism concept, installed inside a hotel complex — Hotel El Dorado Royale — where participants can see firsthand how the production model works.

A Stage for Entrepreneurs and Investors

The agenda also includes a session called Fish Tank, where entrepreneurs can present their startups to investors and potential strategic partners, with the chance to receive feedback and open new business opportunities.

Other scheduled topics include the integration of clean energy, efficient use of resources and waste reduction, artificial intelligence applications to streamline processes, financing alternatives and commercial models for aquaponic production systems.

The program features networking activities as well, among them the “Noche de Tropiezos,” a dinner at Hotel El Dorado Royale that will bring together specialists, businesspeople and professionals from the agricultural and tourism sectors.
