Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Business magnate Ricardo Salinas Pliego is at risk of losing a property seized by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) in Cozumel, following a setback from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation that now obliges him to pay over 40 billion pesos for overdue tax credits.
In a recent review of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce of Quintana Roo, Sol Quintana Roo detected an embargo on the only property of Salinas Pliego acquired through a purchase-sale transaction by his television station at a cost of more than 127,000 pesos. This property has been under SAT embargo since 2016 for a tax credit exceeding 300 million pesos, which is part of the magnate’s outstanding debts to the federal government.
This property is located on Avenida Pedro Joaquín Coldwell (Avenida 30) with 33 Sur, in the San Miguel II subdivision. It is identified in the Public Registry with real folio number 3585.
However, it has an embargo applied by the SAT in 2012 for a total credit of 321,304,562 pesos, due to non-payment of federal taxes; this at the time included embargos on other properties in various parts of the Republic.
In 2014, there was a partial lifting of embargos on several of the magnate’s properties in other parts of the country, but in Quintana Roo, the land in Cozumel was excluded from this benefit.
In a review via Google Maps, it has been confirmed that the property contains transmission antennas likely used for his television station. A faded logo of the media brand from Ajusco can be discerned.
The site lies completely abandoned.
Sol Quintana Roo recently revealed how Ricardo Salinas Pliego benefited from a land grant by the defunct IPAE, managed by Claudia Romanillos, who has been implicated as an accomplice in the embezzlement of Quintana Roo’s assets during the term of imprisoned former governor Roberto Borge Angulo.
This is a property located on Avenida Paseos Central with Punta Allen, near Plaza Las Américas, in Playa del Carmen, which his television station received at zero cost.
