Joaquín Díaz Mena, the newly elected governor of Yucatán, has pledged to support the rural communities of the region. "We aim to rejuvenate the Yucatecan countryside by providing men and women with the resources they need to cultivate the land," he stated during his recent gratitude tour. The tour included visits to the municipalities of Calotmul and Espita.

Díaz Mena emphasized that artisans, weavers, and embroiderers will receive the necessary supplies for their work from the state government. He also highlighted the importance of supporting women and single mothers. "We will provide loans to individuals who wish to start a small business to support their families," he added.

The governor-elect promised that the 4T state government will work tirelessly to ensure that farmers, producers, traditional Mayan farmers (milperos), small cattle ranchers, and rural men and women receive the support they need. "You will have a friend in the governor's office, someone who understands and is familiar with your needs. We will stand by you in good times and bad, and during this Mayan Renaissance, which will bring about the best years for Yucatán," he assured.

Díaz, affectionately known as "Huacho", expressed his commitment to supporting all families, especially those most in need. He fondly recalled his time as a teacher at the Colegio de Bachilleres in Calotmul, Tizimín, and Río Lagartos. He shared a recent interaction with a former student who told him that his encouragement to study hard, work hard, and never give up on their dreams had been inspiring. "It fills me with pride to know that our journey and our struggles can inspire our children and our youth. It shows them that dreams can be achieved, and that any child, any young person, can grow up to be a governor," he said.
