Mass Dog Poisoning Reported in Mexican Municipality

JOSÉ MARÍA MORELOS, MX. — Residents of the San Juan and Vicente Guerrero neighborhoods reported a suspected series of dog poisonings this Monday, following reports of toxic substances being dumped in public areas, raising concerns about public health risks.

Inhabitants indicated that several animals have been found dead in recent days, some in an advanced state of decomposition, a situation that poses a danger to children, pedestrians, and garbage collection personnel.

In response to this situation, the neighbors called on authorities to investigate the incidents and sanction those responsible.

Cinthia Narzeli Negroe May, director of Municipal Ecology and Environment, reported that as of now, no formal complaint has been filed with the department, so she urged citizens to come directly to file their complaint.

“For action to be taken as the law requires, it is necessary for them to come to the Ecology department. The complaint is taken and followed up,” she added.

The official explained that social media posts do not activate the official response protocol, so having documented evidence is essential.

Furthermore, she called for promoting greater animal welfare culture, reminding that animals are classified as sentient beings.

She emphasized that the department under her leadership promotes educational talks and awareness campaigns about respect and care for companion animals.
