Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Municipal authorities have again assisted a naked woman found on public streets following a citizen's report. The woman, who is presumed to be of Venezuelan nationality, has now been attended to on four separate occasions in a period of less than three weeks.
A Recurring and Challenging Situation
The woman was aided by the Specialized Group for Attention to Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG) and transported to the Hospital Regional XVIII of the IMSS Bienestar to receive medical attention, according to Aurelia Amador, the official in charge of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
Identifying the woman has proven difficult, as she has provided different personal details during each intervention and does not possess official identification documents. The only consistent information she has offered is that she is Venezuelan.
During the interventions, the woman typically reacts with aggression when offered help, whether it is food or clothing. Consequently, after a medical evaluation, it was decided to take her to the hospital so specialists can determine if she has an underlying health problem or disorder.
Authorities continue to monitor her case but have not succeeded in identifying her or fully understanding her situation. The hospital has not released information regarding her health status following the transfer.
This case highlights the difficulty authorities face when attempting to assist vulnerable individuals, particularly when their identity and specific conditions are unknown. Despite the complications, efforts are ongoing to ensure the woman receives the necessary attention to improve her situation.
