Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Association of Real Estate Developers of Quintana Roo (ADIQ) has highlighted that the state's real estate industry is undergoing a period of significant dynamism, presenting a unique opportunity for sustainable growth in harmony with the natural environment, which is the region's principal attraction and driver of its economic value.
The president of the organization, Miguel Ángel Lemus, emphasized the importance of maintaining a close relationship with municipal authorities, especially with key departments such as the Cadastre and the Secretariat of Ecology and Urban Development. He stated that these agencies urgently require technological modernization processes to respond to the magnitude of the industry.
As a positive example, they noted that thanks to collaboration between the private sector and the State Government, the Public Property Registry has managed to completely digitize its procedures, which has provided greater legal certainty and agility in real estate processes.
Regarding real estate development, Lemus indicated that the last five years have seen unprecedented growth, particularly in the medium-income and residential housing segments. Currently, Quintana Roo has more than 500 projects in Tulum, 200 in Cancún, 184 in Playa del Carmen, 20 in Puerto Morelos, 15 in Cozumel, and six in Isla Mujeres, totaling approximately one thousand active projects across the entire state.
These projects represent the construction of nearly 30,000 housing units, which not only boost the local economy but also generate employment, investment, and economic spillover.
Lemus emphasized that Quintana Roo possesses a thriving industry that needs to be steered toward orderly, digitized growth that is respectful of the environment. He stated that developers are committed to preserving the natural beauty that makes the Mexican Caribbean attractive and to ensuring that every project meets quality and sustainability standards.
