Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Cancún Municipal Choir Company faces one of its greatest challenges yet: a journey to Denmark, where they will showcase their talent against singers from various nations. The group is set to compete in the sixth edition of the European Choir Games, one of the most prestigious choral competitions in the world, taking place from June 28 to July 6 in Aarhus.

A Proud Moment for Quintana Roo

In a video shared by the Benito Juárez municipal government, the choir was seen performing one of their routines at Cancún International Airport, captivating travelers and locals alike with their vocal prowess. The government of Ana Patricia Peralta expressed gratitude to the group, stating, “Thank you for taking your talent and the name of our city so far.”

The team, consisting of at least 15 members, embarked on a 17-and-a-half-hour flight to compete under the leadership of Miguel Ángel García, the musical director of the Choir Company. Their participation marks a historic moment as the only Mexican representatives in the competition, often referred to as the “choral Olympics.”

Regardless of the outcome, their participation elevates Mexico’s presence on the global choral stage.
