Quintana Roo’s Wellbeing Fairs Bring Local Crafts and Food to Three Cities This March

Artisans display textiles and crafts at a Wellbeing Fair in Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo — Artisans and producers from across Quintana Roo will showcase textiles, melipona honey, artisanal sauces, and regional cuisine at Wellbeing Fairs scheduled for Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, and Cancún this March.

The fairs, organized by the Quintana Roo Secretariat of Wellbeing, aim to strengthen local commerce and directly support state producers and artisans by providing a platform for direct sales without intermediaries.

Fair Schedule and Locations

The events will take place at public plazas in three key cities:

  • Chetumal: Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Explanada de la Bandera, focusing on wood crafts and regional honey.
  • Playa del Carmen: Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Plaza Cívica 28 de Julio, focusing on artisanal fashion and organic products.
  • Cancún: Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Malecón Tajamar, focusing on typical cuisine and contemporary Quintana Roo design.

Authorities selected these high-traffic locations to maximize exposure for locally made products.

Products on Offer

Attendees can find a wide variety of items, including:

  • Traditional textiles like huipiles, embroidered blouses, and guayaberas made by Maya zone artisans.
  • Regional crafts such as wooden decor, basketry, silver jewelry, and palm accessories.
  • Agricultural products including virgin melipona bee honey, artisanal habanero chili sauces, traditional sweets, and organic goods.
  • Contemporary design items blending local tradition with creativity.

Supporting Local Economy

The fairs promote fair trade by allowing producers to sell directly to the public, ensuring 100% of profits go to artisans and producers. This initiative supports local entrepreneurship, preserves artisanal techniques and cultural traditions, and encourages responsible local consumption.

State officials encourage residents to attend with reusable bags and support local talent, contributing to the economic development of communities that rely on artisanal production.
