Mexico City, January 16 — The head of the Quintana Roo Institute of Mobility (Imoveqroo), Rafael Hernández Kotazek, announced on Friday that the state has been chosen to host the Latin American Mobility Authorities Forum “Cities in Motion,” which will take place on February 12 and 13, 2026, in Cancún.
“Our state is undergoing a profound process of change in the way mobility is planned and conceived, with a long-term vision that places people, social justice, and collective well-being at the center,” he stated.
This international meeting aligns with the New Agreement for Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, to consolidate orderly, sustainable growth with shared prosperity.
What to Expect from the Forum?
The event will bring together in Cancún more than 300 mobility and transportation authorities, specialists, and strategic sector actors. It will include representatives from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, the United States, Chile, and Peru, who will share experiences and solutions to advance toward more sustainable, integrated, and inclusive mobility systems.
The event is organized by the Mexican Association of Mobility Authorities, with the State Government, through the Quintana Roo State Institute of Mobility, as host.
Additionally, the forum’s organization will be coordinated with the Benito Juárez City Council through the Municipal Institutes of Planning for Urban Development (IMPLAN), as well as the WRI Ross Center and the National Association of Bus, Truck, and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT).
This meeting has the support of international organizations such as the World Resources Institute; the World Bank (WB); the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); the International Union of Public Transport (UITP); the German Cooperation Agency, among others.
