Four CJNG Members Face Preventive Detention in Cozumel

Four alleged CJNG members detained in Cozumel for drug trafficking

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — After the State Prosecutor’s Office presented the corresponding evidence, a Control Judge issued an order linking four men to legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in acts possibly constituting crimes against health in the modality of drug trafficking in this municipality.

The Four Were Members of the CJNG

The now accused individuals are identified as Miguel Alexander “N”, Aarón “N”, Ever Eladio “N”, and Kevin Orlando “N”; all of them are alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The first of those mentioned is identified as the leader of said criminal group in Cozumel.

The four subjects were detained on 33 South Street in the Colonos neighborhood during an operation, in which agents observed them exchanging small bags containing marijuana; in addition, they were carrying a long firearm and a short one, caliber 9 mm, with loaded magazines and live cartridges.

They Could Be Involved in Two Homicides

It is worth noting that, according to initial investigations, the accused are possibly related to two homicides committed on October 28 and December 5 of the current year. The victim of the second incident was the father of the leader of a rival criminal group, who is a priority target in the State’s Criminal Atlas.

After ordering the linking to proceedings for Miguel Alexander “N”, Aarón “N”, Ever Eladio “N”, and Kevin Orlando “N”, the Judge also imposed the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention for the duration of the judicial process against them.
