Quintana Roo Dazzles at National Folkloric Festival 2025

A lively group of dancers showcases vibrant traditional clothing while performing at a cultural festival, celebrating heritage and artistry.

Puruándiro, Michoacán — For the first time in the event’s history, a delegation from southern Mexico participated in the 4th National Folkloric Festival Puruándiro 2025, held from June 13 to 16 in Michoacán. The artistic group from Quintana Roo, comprising 40 members from various local ensembles, showcased the region’s vibrant cultural traditions on a national stage.

A Historic Participation

The Quintana Roo delegation included performers from the Compañía de Baile y Danza Folklórica de Quintana Roo, the modern dance ensemble Sabor Caribeño, and the youth ballet Para Loop Kim. Over three consecutive days, they presented a repertoire featuring emblematic dances of the state, such as the danza chetumaleña, traditional Caribbean dances, trigueñas, and chicleros. The performances highlighted the region’s rich heritage through color, rhythm, and movement.

Abad Miranda Ramírez, the group’s representative, noted the enthusiastic reception from the audience. Following their final performance, the crowd demanded an encore, leading the dancers to repeat their Caribbean-themed numbers.

“We closed with a golden touch. After finishing, the audience began shouting ‘Again!’ and applauded intensely. We danced the Caribbean numbers once more, and it filled us with emotion because we felt we represented our state with dignity. Our folklore resonates beyond our borders,” Miranda said.

A Platform for Cultural Exchange

The festival brought together dance troupes from 11 Mexican states, fostering cultural exchange and showcasing the diversity of the country’s traditional dance forms. For Quintana Roo, participation marked a significant milestone in gaining national recognition for its regional folklore.

The event not only celebrated artistic talent but also strengthened ties between performers from different regions, reinforcing the importance of preserving and promoting Mexico’s folkloric traditions.
