Quintana Roo Red Cross Launches 2026 Fundraising Drive to Support Emergency Services

Red Cross volunteers in Quintana Roo preparing for the 2026 fundraising campaign

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Red Cross in Quintana Roo has launched its 2026 fundraising campaign to ensure the continued operation of its emergency medical services, officials announced this week.

Noemí Constandse, president of the Red Cross Volunteer Ladies in Quintana Roo, said the national campaign will begin on February 20 with an official kickoff at the organization’s new museum in Mexico City, which commemorates 110 years of humanitarian work. The fundraising effort will then expand to Quintana Roo later in the month.

In Quintana Roo, the campaign will deploy at least 900 collection boxes strategically placed throughout Cancún. While the specific fundraising target for 2026 has not yet been set, organizers are using last year’s goal of three million pesos as a reference point.

“Community support is the only engine that allows us to maintain the free and high-quality service that belongs to all of society,” Constandse emphasized.

This year’s campaign features a significant digital transformation, incorporating QR codes to facilitate monthly donations and provide tax-deductible receipts. This modernization will complement traditional door-to-door collection efforts, which Constandse said allow volunteers to “touch hearts” and raise awareness about the real cost of saving lives.

The success of the campaign depends on human resources, including volunteers, youth groups, and local students. Educational institutions will play a key role through collection brigades in shopping plazas, which have opened their doors to facilitate public participation.

A fundamental pillar of the campaign is fostering a culture of donation from childhood. Organizers have extended an invitation to mothers to participate alongside their elementary school children in collection activities.

For the institution, involving young children not only generates immediate empathy from donors but also plants seeds of social responsibility and civic participation that ensure the Red Cross’s future.

The fundraising infrastructure will also target the business sector and local commerce, seeking support from private initiative to cover annual operational costs of approximately 60 million pesos.

Constandse noted that her management work provides the invisible support that allows paramedics to operate daily, stressing that the institution’s survival depends directly on the combined efforts of all sectors.
