Chetumal, Quintana Roo — More than 150 security officers across Quintana Roo have undergone surprise drug tests as part of the trust-control screenings applied to the state’s police forces, Public Security Secretary Julio César Gómez Torres said.
The tests are administered at random and without prior warning by the State Center for Evaluation and Trust Control, known as C3, which selects which personnel from each agency will be evaluated.
Gómez Torres said the screenings were given last week to officers from a municipal police force, while roughly a month earlier they were applied to members of the State Police.
The secretary said the surprise tests carry the same validity as those carried out when officers are summoned in advance to complete their trust-control evaluations.
So far, the Public Security Department has not released the results of the most recent tests, meaning it has not yet been determined whether any of the officers screened tested positive.
