Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Quintana Roo Secretariat of Ecology and Environment has announced registration dates for its 2026 Recicla por tu Futuro (Recycle for Your Future) program, which allows residents to exchange recyclable materials for free food baskets.
The initiative aims to strengthen environmental culture and promote responsible waste management through citizen participation in recycling, supporting a circular economy where recyclables translate into direct community benefits.
Registration will take place in person at temporary sites during March in three municipalities along the Mexican Caribbean coast.
Registration Schedule
In Tulum, registration will occur on Friday, March 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Dos Aguas Sports Dome.
Playa del Carmen residents can register on Monday, March 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Misión Las Flores Sports Dome.
In Puerto Morelos, the process will be held on Wednesday, March 18, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Zetina Gasca neighborhood Sports Dome.
Required Documents
Officials said registration is personal and free. Interested participants must bring legible copies of:
- A valid official ID (INE)
- An updated CURP (Unique Population Registry Code)
- A recent proof of address (no older than three months)
The Quintana Roo Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Natural Areas and the State Environmental Protection Agency emphasized that the process requires no intermediaries, warning residents to avoid any external payment or management attempts.
