Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa inaugurated the CRAADYR rehabilitation center on the island of Cozumel, a facility built to provide comprehensive care for people struggling with addiction.

The center, whose full name is the Centro de Rehabilitación Amor al Adicto Difícil y Reincidente, offers medical and psychological treatment, detoxification, meals and lodging. It also provides support for patients’ families and vocational workshops, with the aim of aiding recovery and strengthening family ties.

Lezama stressed the importance of reaching out to those in need. “This is a home. May it be a home of hope for many more,” she said, expressing her support for the center’s residents around the clock.

Officials said the project was funded through a joint investment that paid for consultation rooms, beds, specialized services and training spaces. The governor urged residents to spread the word so that more people seek treatment and recover.

She was joined at the opening by Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of the DIF Quintana Roo family services agency; Cozumel municipal president José Luis Chacón; and the center’s sponsors.

Lezama said tackling addiction requires the involvement of families, institutions, civil society and government working together.
