The Importance of Mammograms in Detecting Breast Cancer

Medical professionals in Mexico strongly emphasize the importance of these tests during the month commemorating breast cancer detection to save the lives of women across the country. This exam should be performed annually or every two years after turning 40.

The procedure for a mammogram, according to specialists, is very simple and takes at most 20 minutes. Women aged 40 to 65 who attend the breast cancer prevention appointment are asked to wear comfortable two-piece clothing (a blouse and pants) so they can only uncover their chest for the exam, which is performed with low-power laser rays.

The exam consists of taking X-rays that show the condition of the breast tissue, allowing for the early detection of breast cancer and other issues before symptoms begin. This early detection can increase the percentage of cures.

This initiative aims to detect signs of the disease early in order to decrease the mortality rate from this condition.
