Zapopan, Jalisco — The Quintana Roo state team has achieved a historic milestone by securing the national championship in roller skating at the CONADE National Olympics 2025. The team concluded its participation with an impressive haul of 39 medals: 10 gold, 19 silver, and 10 bronze, surpassing competitors from Jalisco and Michoacán.
A Record-Breaking Performance
On the final day of competition at the Instituto de Ciencias in Zapopan, Jalisco, Quintana Roo’s skaters added three more medals to their tally—one gold and two silver—solidifying their dominance in the discipline.
Jeisy Abigail Sandoval Alejandro claimed the gold medal in the 30-kilometer marathon, Junior category, with a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 54.5644 seconds. This victory marked her fifth gold medal in as many events, cementing her status as the standout athlete of the state delegation.
Isabella Meredith González Chávez secured silver in the 21-kilometer marathon, Youth Major category, finishing in 42 minutes and 20.5310 seconds. Meanwhile, Mia Abelicia Aguillón Cruz earned another silver in the 16-kilometer marathon, Youth Minor category, with a time of 30 minutes and 5.3713 seconds.
Government Support and Training Excellence
The team’s success was bolstered by the support of Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa through the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop. Their efforts align with the state’s New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development, which prioritizes athletic excellence.
Coaches Juan Pastor León Hernández (Playa del Carmen), Lesly Gómez Caballero (Benito Juárez), and Efraín Martínez Bardales (Isla Mujeres) guided the athletes to this historic achievement, contributing significantly to Quintana Roo’s overall medal count in the national competition.
The roller skating team’s performance has placed Quintana Roo among the top ten states in the overall medal standings, reinforcing the state’s growing reputation as a powerhouse in national sports.
