Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Health teams are visiting public schools across Quintana Roo this week to vaccinate children against measles as part of a state-wide prevention campaign.

Governor Mara Lezama announced that medical brigades will set up vaccination stations directly at educational facilities to make immunization more accessible and strengthen protection in school communities.

The campaign began Thursday with stations operating in several municipalities. In Tulum, vaccinations are being administered at the Ignacio Zaragoza elementary school in Macario Gómez during morning hours.

On the same day, stations were also set up at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto school in Felipe Carrillo Puerto municipality, offering vaccinations during both morning and afternoon sessions. In Puerto Morelos, the Benjamín Sabido Rosado school is hosting a vaccination station during afternoon hours.

The campaign continues Friday with additional locations across the state:

  • Tulum – Ignacio Zaragoza school in Macario Gómez (morning)
  • Cancún – Francisco Hoil Torres school (morning and afternoon) and Miguel Vidal Alcocer school (morning)
  • José María Morelos – Agustín Melgar school (morning) and José María Morelos y Pavón school (afternoon)
  • Chetumal – Santiago Pacheco Cruz school (morning)
  • Playa del Carmen – José Gonzalo López Esquivel school (morning) and Ricardo López Méndez school (morning and afternoon)
  • Puerto Morelos – Miguel Ángel González Quijano school (morning)

Governor Lezama emphasized that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles, a highly contagious disease that can cause serious complications, particularly in children.

She urged parents and guardians to pay attention to vaccination schedules at participating schools and ensure children receive their doses.
