Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Mandatory Telephone Number Registration 2026 began on January 9 as part of a security plan proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which aims to link the INE (National Electoral Institute credential) or CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) with cell phones to stop anonymous scams and fraud in Quintana Roo.

Since this is a very new procedure, Quintana Roo citizens are asked to help children, older adults, and people with disabilities complete it because they will be asked for important information, codes sent by message, photos taken of the requested documents, a selfie of the person in whose name the number is registered, and they will have only three attempts to succeed.

To complete this procedure, only the INE and CURP will be required, and all users with paid, prepaid, rental, and company telephone numbers must do it before June 30, because starting July 1, cell phone lines that are not linked to these documents will begin to be canceled as they will be considered potential fraud lines.

How to Check if Your Number is Already Linked to Your INE in Quintana Roo

If you have already linked your telephone number, starting February 7 all telephone companies will be publishing a list with the registry of telephone numbers so you can check that your “registration was successful” in Quintana Roo. With a single INE you can link up to 10 telephone lines, including numbers for your children or minors in your family, older adults, and people with disabilities.

Another way to know how to complete this procedure is that, at the time of doing it, you will receive a text message from your company confirming the procedure. In the case of Conecta Quintana Roo users, they must call SEBIEN to complete the procedure or check if it should be done, since the number is already linked to their data due to the registration process.
