Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama speaking during the first broadcast of the year of the program La Voz del Pueblo

Cancún, Quintana Roo — In the first broadcast of the year of the program “La Voz del Pueblo,” Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa reiterated that her administration will maintain a policy close to the people, on the ground, with direct attention to complaints and zero tolerance for violence, especially against women.

During the program, the Governor thanked the entire team that makes it possible for “La Voz del Pueblo” to be addressed directly, so that help, complaints, and requests become reality. “We begin this year with a lot of work, with a lot of management, and with a lot of projects for the people of Quintana Roo,” she said.

She also highlighted the coordination between the three branches of the state government, municipalities, security forces, and federal authorities, who have responded to management efforts, procedures, and programs for the growth and well-being of the people of Quintana Roo.

Mara Lezama emphasized that she will begin the year working on the issue of non-violence, which is fundamental, stating that in Quintana Roo “no one is above the law” and that every complaint of violence will be investigated without exceptions or privileges, regardless of who it is, their last name, or any political affiliations, positions, or assignments. “In Quintana Roo, there will be no impunity for violence against any human being, but specifically, I reiterate, against women,” she said.

The head of the Executive called for reflection, to work from homes in building peace and non-violence, urging mothers, fathers, and guardians to talk with girls, boys, and adolescents about respect, reporting, and preventing abuse. She stressed that her government will not allow impunity and has specialized teams to assist victims, so she insisted on a culture of reporting.

Health Infrastructure Advances

In health matters, she announced significant advances in hospital infrastructure, including the completion of hospitals, operating rooms, and diagnostic centers, as well as an upcoming visit from federal authorities to announce new investments that will strengthen medical care in the state.

“We spoke with Zoé Robledo about the IMSS Outpatient Diagnosis and Treatment Center, which is a step toward third-level services; and the visit we will have from Alejandro Svarch, director of IMSS-Bienestar, for very good news for the former Jesús Kumate hospital,” she reported.

Housing for Well-being Program

Regarding housing, the Governor announced that this year the Housing for Well-being program will be reinforced, with subsidized houses for families currently living in irregular settlements, with the goal of providing legal certainty and dignified conditions, with complete services and affordable payments.

She specified that Quintana Roo is the state with the highest number of houses in the Housing for Well-being program, and more will continue to be managed.

Tourism and World Cup Activity

The Governor also highlighted that 2026 will be a year with a lot of World Cup activity, so in a few days she will confirm the names of the two national teams that will be in Quintana Roo, to move toward their respective matches.

In the tourism sector, Mara Lezama highlighted that Quintana Roo closed the year with historic figures, registering 771 air operations in a single day, consolidating itself as the undisputed leader of the tourism industry. She detailed the opening of 17 new air routes with 11 airlines from the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as the growth of hotel offerings and the diversification of cultural, gastronomic, and sporting events.

She specified that this tourism success reflects the work of men and women who make possible that warm treatment toward visitors, but who often lack recognition: room attendants, cooks, gardeners, guides, lifeguards, all those who serve in the 12 tourist destinations that Quintana Roo has.

Vehicle Registration and Three Kings Day Events

She also reported on the start of vehicle registration renewal and the total subsidy of the vehicle tax, inviting citizens to complete the process online to avoid surcharges and long lines, in addition to highlighting that these resources contribute to security and vehicular order.

For January 6, Three Kings Day, Mara Lezama reported that, together with the honorary president of the Quintana Roo DIF System, Verónica Lezama, in coordination with municipal presidents, simultaneous events will be held in 100 communities, bringing surprises, gifts, and much joy to girls and boys who have never had a celebration.

She also asked for the collaboration of the people of Quintana Roo to join the “Abrigando Corazones” blanket and cover collection drive, which will be donated to people in remote communities, where the effects of low temperatures are felt more, especially the most vulnerable, so they have better conditions this winter season.

During the program, citizen reports related to public services, works, security, and social support were also addressed, reiterating that “La Voz del Pueblo” is a permanent channel to listen to and directly resolve the needs of the population.

Finally, the governor wished the people of Quintana Roo a year of peace, well-being, and social justice, assuring that her government will continue working on the ground, with sensitivity, transparency, and commitment to those who need it most.
