Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced that her administration continues to work on the creation of a third-level hospital for the state, a key project aimed at strengthening specialized medical care for Quintana Roo residents.
Regarding the future of the ISSSTE store in Cancún, she explained that its fate will depend on the project determined by the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE). However, she clarified that the intention is to expand medical services in that same space.
The governor also denied rumors about a possible private project on the ISSSTE land, assuring that no such initiative exists. The plot of land, which was cleared with the support of the Benito Juárez Municipal Government, will be used to improve hospital infrastructure.
The state leader reiterated her commitment to finalize the construction of the third-level hospital before the end of her term. She recalled that Quintana Roo has made significant progress in treating highly complex diseases, such as the recent performance of 33 congenital heart surgeries on minors between the ages of one and 17, at no cost to the families, thanks to collaboration between public and private institutions.
Lezama Espinosa emphasized that health remains a priority for her government and assured that efforts are focused on guaranteeing quality, free, and dignified medical care for all inhabitants of the state. Furthermore, she underscored that the state administration continues to work to strengthen the health system and offer specialized treatments without requiring Quintana Roo residents to travel outside the state or face high medical costs.
