Mandatory Rest Days for Workers in February 2026

According to Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law, one of the mandatory rest days of the month will be:

• Monday, February 2, 2026, in commemoration of Mexican Constitution Day (February 5).

This day is considered an official holiday, so those who work must receive the corresponding payment in accordance with the law.

Long Weekends and Days Without Classes for Students

For basic education students (preschool, primary, and secondary), the school calendar includes several days without activities, which will generate long weekends:

• February 2: Suspension of classes for the commemoration of Constitution Day.
• January 30: Session of the School Technical Council, which will allow a four-day long weekend for students (from January 30 to February 2).
• February 27: School Technical Council, which combines with the weekend for a three-day long weekend (February 27 to March 1).

Difference Between Holidays and Long Weekends

It is important to distinguish between holidays and so-called long weekends.

• Holidays are mandatory rest days established by law and can fall on any day of the week.
• Long weekends are generated when a date is moved to Monday or Friday, or when combined with suspended school activities, to create long weekends and promote tourism.

Commemorative Dates in February

In addition to rest days, February has several important dates in the national calendar:
