Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo has taken the lead in the national speed skating championships, amassing 57 medals after three days of competition in Playa del Carmen.
The state delegation now tops the medal table at the National Inter-Association Speed Skating Championships with 19 gold, 19 silver, and 19 bronze medals, solidifying its position as the country’s strongest team.
Standout Performances
Among the top performers, Vivian Michelle Morfin Castañeda won two gold medals in the 1000-meter sprint and circuit race in the junior women’s category. María José Domínguez Reina and Gael Emiliano Dzul Rodríguez also claimed gold in their respective events.
Complete Dominance
Quintana Roo demonstrated total control on the track with several podium sweeps:
- A clean sweep of first, second, and third places in the 600-meter sprint for younger junior women
- First and second place finishes in the circuit race for older junior men
These results highlight the delegation’s competitive level and technical preparation.

During the awards ceremony, Jacobo Arzate Hop, head of Quintana Roo’s Sports Commission, credited the athletes’ constant work, discipline, and commitment for the outstanding results.
