Quintana Roo Artisans Can Win 150,000 Pesos in National Contest

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Artisans from Quintana Roo have a new national showcase to project their talent and cultural identity through the National Craft Creation Competition “Mexico in One Piece.” The competition opens a call that seeks to recognize collective work, strengthen popular art, and position craft pieces as representative tourist souvenirs of the country.

Promoted by the Government of Mexico, in coordination with cultural, tourism institutions, and the private sector, the contest is framed within the 2026 Social World Cup and bets on a vision of culture with rights, identity, and economic value for creator communities.

From Quintana Roo, the call represents an opportunity for traditional knowledge and new proposals with cultural roots to reach national and international audiences.

The initiative promotes authentic craft creation, protects copyright, and fosters community development through economic prizes and the acquisition of pieces.

Who Can Participate?

  • Craft collectives

  • Creators who work with traditional techniques and materials

Craft Branches Admitted in the Contest

The works must be unpublished, entirely handmade, and produced between 2025 and 2026, within one of these 14 craft branches:

  1. Textiles
  2. Pottery and lead-free ceramics
  3. Cardboard and paper
  4. Metalwork
  5. Stonework
  6. Lapidary
  7. Glass
  8. Wood
  9. Maque and lacquer
  10. Plant fibers
  11. Handmade jewelry
  12. Leatherwork
  13. Bone and shell
  14. Handmade musical instruments

The main prize will be 150,000 pesos, in addition to a community stimulus and the purchase of replicas, reinforcing the cultural and economic value of popular art.
