PUERTO MORELOS, Quintana Roo — The government of Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, is inviting women who wish to take control of their sexual lives and fertility to receive free subdermal contraceptives within the municipality. The procedure is scheduled for October 11 and 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No social security or enrollment in any type of medical service is required to participate.

The initiative aims to enable women to decide if and when they want a pregnancy in their lives.

Requirements for the Subdermal Contraceptive Procedure

To ensure the procedure is carried out safely, individuals wishing to participate must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 40 years of age.
  • Not have cancer.
  • Not have significant liver diseases.
  • Take a pregnancy test.

This medical intervention is described as safe, free, and confidential. It is a simple and rapid process that offers long-term protection and can be combined with other contraceptive methods.

Location and Details of the Procedure

Interested individuals should go to the Centro de Salud Puerto Morelos, located on Isla Mujeres street between Rafael Melgar and Javier Rojo Gómez. For more information, individuals can call 99 8204 70 04 or visit the module between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The contraceptive device is a small rod placed under the skin of the arm. It releases hormones that prevent ovulation and create conditions that make it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus. This method does not pose a risk to women's health and can last between three and five years without interruption, thereby preventing pregnancy.
