Puerto Aventuras, Mexico — Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez has stated that he has no official reports or knowledge of the explosions allegedly heard by residents in the southwestern part of the borough, specifically within the TAEMA development.
Residents Report Loud Explosations Near Tourist Complex
Local residents claim the explosions have been occurring since last weekend, with such intensity that the sounds reached as far as the Barceló Riviera Maya tourist complex. Some have raised concerns that the blasts may have been conducted without proper permits from Mexico’s Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
When pressed for comment, Mayor Gómez Martínez emphasized that due to the distance between TAEMA and Puerto Aventuras’ main population center, the explosions have not been noticed by the broader community. He also confirmed that no direct complaints from residents have been filed with his office.
Previous Incidents Linked to Mayan Train Construction
The mayor referenced a similar incident approximately a year ago, when explosions were reported during construction work on Section 5 of the Mayan Train. At that time, the blasts visibly affected nearby residential areas, including the Los Sauces subdivision.
