Puerto Aventuras, QR — The municipal authority of Puerto Aventuras is carrying out the necessary procedures for the construction of a Colegio de Bachilleres campus in the community. This effort responds to the growing educational demand and a lack of spaces for young people finishing secondary school, according to Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez.

“We have provided the State and the directorate of Bachilleres with all the statistics that demonstrate our need. This year, many young people were left without a space to continue their studies because we remain only an extension of the campus in Playa del Carmen,” explained Gómez Martínez.

The mayor of Puerto Aventuras detailed that the land for the construction is already available and has had the proper documentation in order for at least three years. Consequently, they are confident the project can be integrated into the educational infrastructure plans for the coming year.

“Puerto Aventuras continues to grow day by day; more families are arriving, and the student population is increasing. We are not pressuring, but we are managing a legitimate need,” he emphasized.

Puerto Aventuras Youth Left Without Placement

Gómez Martínez reiterated that the objective is for students from Puerto Aventuras to avoid having to commute daily to Playa del Carmen to study, which represents expenses and risks for many families.

“We want our young people to have the opportunities they deserve right here. For now, we have an extension of that educational subsystem, and what we are seeking is to have a full-fledged campus,” he concluded.

During the First Informe presented by President Claudia Sheinbaum in Cancún, the upcoming installation of a campus from this subsystem in the Municipality was mentioned. The Mayoralty is therefore seeking for Puerto Aventuras to be considered as the site.
