Cancún, QRoo — The public transportation route providing a direct connection between the Cancún International Airport and the hotel zone has tripled its frequency of trips since its inauguration in March 2025.
According to data from Mobility ADO, the company operating the service, the route has increased from offering three daily trips to recording up to nine departures per day as of October, representing a 200 percent increase in the tourist mobility offering.
The service, designed to meet the growing demand for direct transport between the airport and the city's main resort complexes, has moved more than 85,000 passengers in its first seven months of operation, according to figures from the company. The monthly average of users grew from 7,500 in April to more than 14,000 in September, with an average occupancy of 80 percent per unit.
The route operates with air-conditioned buses, equipped with Wi-Fi connection, luggage space, and universal accessibility. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes and includes strategic stops at key points: Plaza Forum, Punta Cancún, and Playa Tortugas. The ticket price remains at 120 pesos per person, with the option for advance purchase online or directly at the airport.
Response to High Tourist Demand
Iván Cupul, Regional Manager of Mobility ADO, stated in a telephone interview that the increase in frequency responds to the high demand recorded during the summer vacation season and the sustained growth of international tourism.
"Cancún received more than 6.2 million visitors between January and September of 2025, and 70 percent of them stayed in the hotel zone. This route has become an efficient, safe, and economical alternative to private transportation," he indicated.
The Cancún International Airport, the second busiest in the country, has reported a 12.4 percent increase in operations compared to the same period in 2024, with more than 22 million passengers moved through September.
Expansion of Regional Connectivity
In addition to the route to the hotel zone, Mobility ADO has announced new connections from the airport to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Mérida, as part of its regional integration strategy. These routes complement the offering of the Maya Train and seek to facilitate the transit of visitors between the main tourist hubs of southeastern Mexico.
The consolidation of this route as a public transportation option represents an advance in Cancún's urban mobility, reducing dependence on taxis and private services and contributing to more orderly tourist logistics.
