BREAKING: Governor Accused of Torturing Journalist Placed under House Arrest

This Saturday, a judge ruled that former Puebla governor (2005-2011), Mario Marín, will be placed under house arrest. Marín is accused of torturing journalist Lydia Cacho, who exposed a pedophile network in Mexico. As part of his house arrest, Marín will be required to wear a tracking bracelet and pay bail.

Cacho shared this news on her social media, also revealing that the presiding judge, Angélica Ortuño, imposed a fine of 100,000 pesos (approximately 5,263.2 dollars) on Marín. Cacho has expressed concern for her safety, her witnesses, and her family, stating that Marín is a "dangerous prisoner". She holds Judge Ortuño responsible for any harm that may come to them.

The decision to place Marín under house arrest was made after his legal team filed an injunction to alter his precautionary measures. As a result, Marín will be confined to his home in the central state of Puebla and will not be permitted to leave. Prior to this change, Marín had been held at the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center 1, also known as 'el Altiplano', where he spent four years in preventive imprisonment.

Despite the unresolved status of his case, Marín will now be able to continue it from his home. Cacho's fear for her safety is not unfounded. After publishing her book 'The Demons of Eden', in which she exposed a pedophile ring and commercial sex exploitation involving minors in Mexico, she was kidnapped by police and tortured for 48 hours. She was only released after paying a bail of nearly 4.00 dollars in cash.
