QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced that the Maya Train has transported a total of 1.7 million passengers since its service began. During a speech, the President of Mexico urged the public not to believe false information circulating about the flagship project of the Fourth Transformation administration.
The Maya Train is one of the most prominent national projects in recent years. It was created not only to improve mobility for citizens and tourists in southern Mexico but is also slated for future use as a freight transport service. The project has become a topic of significant interest following the president's revelation of the official passenger figures.
Quintana Roo and the Maya Train have become increasingly interconnected over time. The Government of Mexico and Governor Mara Lezama have stated that the project's objective is to support citizen mobility and boost local tourism. This latter goal has been a primary reason for the train's use in the Riviera Maya area, where its promotions and tours have contributed to a rise in tourism for the state of Quintana Roo by facilitating travel between municipalities.

President Sheinbaum Puts an End to Rumors
Since its inauguration, usage figures for the Maya Train have been the subject of varying reports, with some claiming the public transport is unused and others asserting it is popular among both national and international visitors to the country's south.
To put an end to these rumors, the national leader confirmed the official usage figure is 1.7 million users since its start date. President Sheinbaum Pardo also asked citizens not to believe false information spread on social media regarding the Maya Train, its success, and other projects of the Fourth Transformation. She also noted that the usage figure is likely to increase soon due to tourism packages and the construction of freight stations.
