Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Mexican hotel chain Grupo Posadas has officially opened Devossion by Live Aqua, a new all-inclusive resort concept designed exclusively for adults, as part of its strategic expansion in Quintana Roo and the Caribbean.

The inauguration ceremony featured José Carlos Azcárraga, CEO of Posadas, alongside state officials led by Quintana Roo Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto Riestra, who highlighted the role of high-value tourism investment in the region’s economic development.

A New Adults-Only Concept

Devossion by Live Aqua represents an evolution in Posadas’ offerings, positioning itself as an “all-inclusive experience” centered on romance, wellness, and emotional connection. The resort features 314 rooms with contemporary luxury and Caribbean-inspired design, gourmet dining options, a cenote-inspired spa concept, immersive entertainment, and oceanfront spaces tailored for couples.

Located in the Riviera Maya, the property is targeting both domestic and international travelers seeking extended stays in a sophisticated yet authentic Caribbean setting. The emphasis is less on party-driven tourism and more on curated experiences, design, and sensory detail — a strategy aligned with shifting post-pandemic travel trends favoring wellness and meaningful connection.

“With Devossion by Live Aqua, we reaffirm our commitment to Quintana Roo as one of the world’s most important tourist destinations and consolidate our ability to innovate in hospitality,” said Azcárraga. “This concept reflects Posadas’ vision: creating memorable experiences that emotionally connect with our guests while driving regional development.”

Tourism Secretary Cueto Riestra noted that projects of this scale strengthen destination diversification and competitiveness, elevating the tourism offering while generating employment for local communities.

Founded in 1967, Grupo Posadas is Mexico’s largest hotel operator. The company manages, owns, and franchises more than 180 hotels and over 29,000 rooms across Mexico and the Caribbean.

The opening of Devossion strengthens Posadas’ position in the beach resort and all-inclusive category, which represents a growing share of its future pipeline. Of the more than 30 hotel openings planned through 2027, 57% will focus on resorts and all-inclusive properties. Currently, Posadas’ portfolio consists of 38% resorts, 26% upscale properties, and 35% midscale hotels.

For Quintana Roo, the numbers are significant. Devossion by Live Aqua creates 521 direct jobs and more than 900 indirect positions, reinforcing the tourism value chain that supports everything from food suppliers to transportation services.

As the Riviera Maya continues to attract luxury travelers, major brands are clearly betting on high-spend, experience-driven visitors. With Devossion, Posadas is positioning itself squarely in that space — banking on romance, design, and elevated service to capture a competitive slice of the Caribbean’s adults-only market.
