Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A municipal police officer lost his life in the line of duty following an armed attack in the Villas del Sol neighborhood. The Playa del Carmen government issued an official statement detailing the incident.

Details of the Attack

The Secretary of Citizen Security of Playa del Carmen reported that the officer was cowardly attacked while conducting routine patrol duties in Villas del Sol. During the confrontation, the assailant was also killed, and a firearm was seized. Authorities detained a woman in connection with the incident, and a minor was placed under protective custody.

The government categorically denied rumors circulating on social media about a minor being injured as collateral damage, stating that these claims were false and unsupported by verified facts.
