Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Police arrested a woman suspected of drug trafficking at the ADO bus terminal in Playa del Carmen after a K-9 unit detected marijuana in her backpack during a routine inspection.
Judith Monserrath “N” was detained on suspicion of drug-related crimes after a police dog named Logan signaled the presence of narcotics while officers from the K-9 Unit of the Citizen Security Department conducted preventive patrols in the waiting area.
Following the dog’s alert, officers searched the woman’s gray backpack and found a package containing green, dry plant material resembling marijuana. They immediately seized the substance.
Authorities handed the suspect over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, which will determine her legal status. Investigators are working to establish whether she belongs to a criminal organization or was merely used to transport the drugs.
Officials said these operations aim to enhance security at high-traffic locations and prevent the movement of illicit substances in Playa del Carmen.
