Punta Sam, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested a suspected drug dealer linked to the “Los Pelones” cartel during a security operation in Punta Sam, seizing a variety of narcotics.

The arrest occurred after police officers from the Centurion Group of the Citizen Security Department, in coordination with the Mexican Navy and the Mexican Army, spotted two men exchanging small bags of suspected drugs along the Punta Sam highway near Puerto Juárez.

One suspect fled upon seeing the officers, but police intercepted and detained the other, identified as Óscar Alberto “N.” A search uncovered multiple illicit substances.

Officials suspect the detainee is connected to a criminal cell associated with “Los Pelones” and may be involved in violent activities in the area.

Authorities seized the following items:

  • 2 small bags of possible cocaine
  • 3 small bags of a rock-like substance
  • 5 small bags of material resembling crystal meth
  • 2 cell phones
  • 1 cloth eco-bag

Police turned the suspect over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, where his legal status will be determined.

Security operations continue in the region to curb drug distribution and reinforce safety in strategic locations.
