Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Police arrested an 18-year-old man in Playa del Carmen on Thursday after finding him with suspected narcotics during a routine patrol.
Officers from the Playa del Carmen Citizen Security Department detained the suspect in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood as part of ongoing preventive surveillance operations throughout the municipality.
Authorities said officers noticed the man behaving suspiciously and conducted a search according to established protocols. During the inspection, they discovered substances with characteristics consistent with illegal drugs.
Police immediately arrested the individual and seized the suspected narcotics to preserve the legality of the procedure.
The detainee was identified as Geovanny “N,” an 18-year-old originally from Veracruz state. Officers informed him of his rights at the time of the intervention.
Police turned both the suspect and the seized evidence over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will now handle the investigation file and determine the legal status of the detainee according to current laws.
