Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Despite a nationwide increase in measles cases, Playa del Carmen has not recorded any confirmed infections, according to municipal health secretary José Antonio Uribe Trujillo.

Uribe Trujillo stated that while individuals presenting symptoms such as fever, skin rashes, and general malaise have been treated, none have tested positive for the highly contagious viral disease.

"We are vigilant and have activated the national protocol for early measles detection in primary care centers," Uribe Trujillo said. He added that first-contact medical personnel have received training to strengthen epidemiological surveillance.

The federal Ministry of Health recently issued a preventive alert due to rising infections in several states and urged intensified vaccination campaigns, particularly for children under five.

Uribe Trujillo emphasized that vaccination remains the most effective preventive measure and called on residents to visit health centers to verify their immunization records.

"The message is clear: do not become complacent. While no cases have been confirmed, we have the opportunity to act proactively to protect our population," he concluded.
