Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Municipal Government presented the report of works carried out during 2025, with a total of 43 interventions concluded or in process, primarily in roadways, public spaces, community infrastructure, and urban equipment.

During the presentation, Municipal President Estefanía Mercado stated that the objective has been to address backlogs in mobility, services, and common-use spaces. She indicated that the actions carried out represent an average of one work every eight days.

Key Projects with Direct Impact

Among the detailed projects are six interventions considered to have a direct impact on the population. The first corresponds to the New Access Arch of Playa del Carmen, a work incorporated as a reference point for entry to the city. The second project is the extension of Constituyentes Avenue, which establishes a direct connection between Villas del Sol and the Center and reduces travel times.

Information was also provided on the recovery of Leona Vicario Park, whose facilities were rehabilitated after several years of deterioration; the Civic Plaza of Puerto Aventuras, where a children’s water park was built; the rehabilitation of the Second Park of Villas del Sol, whose first phase is already operational; and the installation of the University Route Stop, which organizes the boarding and alighting of students in the area.

Rehabilitated Parks and Community Spaces

The report included actions of paving on main avenues, rehabilitation of health centers, improvement of sports spaces, and maintenance of absorption wells, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings. It was added that 14 works remain under execution, among them the repaving of 10th North Avenue, the rehabilitation of the Polyforum, the health centers of Colosio and 28 de Julio, the Albatros sinkhole, and works in Villamar 2.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Dorys Ake, listed the works carried out: sections of Constituyentes Avenue, roadways of the Tumbén Chilam neighborhood, sections of 115th Avenue, streets in the Center, sections of the Vial Arch, and various roadways in Puerto Aventuras. Also parks such as Leona Vicario, Grullas, Rayadores, and Ejido; as well as equipment like the 10th Avenue Market, the Municipal Funeral Home, the CEBIAM Sanctuary, inclusive pedestrian crossings, absorption wells, and potable water network works in Cristo Rey.

Future Infrastructure Projects

Ake added that for 2026, additional interventions are scheduled, among them an access arch on the Playa del Carmen–Tulum highway, the Mirador del Mar, the park “Here Begins Fifth Avenue,” the renovation of parks in various neighborhoods, the relocation of departments to the New Municipal Palace, and new repaving projects.
