Bus Crash in Mexico Leaves 15 Injured on Highway

Overturned passenger bus on Nachicocom–Chetumal highway after accident

Chetumal, MX — A passenger bus traveling on the federal highway between Nachicocom and Chetumal overturned on Thursday night, resulting in a preliminary toll of more than 15 injured people, including several minors and a pregnant woman.

The accident was reported to emergency numbers shortly after 9:00 p.m.

The first units to arrive were paramedics from the Rhino group, who located multiple passengers trapped inside the vehicle, four of them pinned between the seats and the collapsed structure.

Among the rescued victims were two minors aged 10 and 11, as well as a woman and a baby, who were immediately transported to Chetumal in delicate but stable condition. During the journey, units from Albatros and La Greem Bacalar joined the prehospital operation to reinforce care.

Two more people remained pinned at the scene of the accident, including a pregnant woman who, according to initial medical reports, remains out of danger with stable vital signs for both her and the baby.

Chetumal firefighters concluded the rescue maneuvers, while personnel from the National Guard and elements of the Rural Police secured the area and coordinated vehicular flow.

The State Coordination of Civil Protection confirmed that the bus came from the state of Tabasco and was heading to the capital of Quintana Roo. The causes of the accident are under investigation.
