OXXO Round-Up Supports Tulum Red Cross Medical Needs

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A round-up campaign at OXXO stores will remain active during January, February, and March, with all proceeds exclusively dedicated to strengthening the operations of the Tulum Red Cross, announced Isabel Menocal Solórzano, director of the Red Cross.

According to the director, the voluntary contribution scheme will allow OXXO customers to donate the cents from their purchases at the time of payment, with the goal of raising funds that will be used primarily to optimize the medical area of the Tulum delegation. The intention is to improve the equipment and conditions of the service provided to the population that requests prehospital and medical care.

Menocal Solórzano specified that the institution selected by the commercial chain for this period is solely the Tulum Red Cross, so all funds collected will be channeled to that delegation and will not be distributed to other locations in the state.

Among the most pressing needs facing the Red Cross in Tulum are strengthening the medical area, acquiring an additional ambulance, training equipment, and adapting its property, including perimeter fencing. These requirements, she explained, are part of efforts to expand emergency response capacity and improve citizen care.

The director also highlighted the importance of the first aid training courses offered by the institution, which have accreditation from Civil Protection and comply with international quality standards endorsed by the International Red Cross, in accordance with current regulations.

Regarding the collection expectation, she noted that there is no fixed goal; however, she recalled that in previous campaigns, the round-up has allowed raising around one million pesos. She expressed confidence that citizen participation will allow surpassing that figure, considering that small accumulated contributions represent significant support for the institution’s functioning in Tulum.
