Bacalar, Quintana Roo — More than 1.5 tons of waste, including tires, appliances, and used vegetable oil, were collected during the fourth installment of the "Transforma y Recolecta" (Transform and Collect) campaign held last weekend in Bacalar.
The initiative, led by the Secretariat of Ecology and Environment of Quintana Roo (SEMA), gathered 1.5 tons of discarded tires, 40 kilograms of electronic waste, and six liters of vegetable oil at a temporary collection center set up at the Colosio neighborhood dome.
Campaign Aims to Prevent Environmental Hazards
The "Transforma y Recolecta" program encourages residents to dispose of waste at designated collection sites, ensuring proper treatment and disposal to avoid health hazards and illegal dumping.
After four campaign events held in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, José María Morelos, Chetumal, and Bacalar, SEMA has collected:
- Over seven tons of discarded tires,
- More than 3.2 tons of appliances,
- 216 liters of used oil.

- September 27: Hugo Ravel Dome, Isla Mujeres (Continental Zone)
- October 11: Hábitat Uno Park, Chetumal
- October 25: Tulum Sports Unit, Tulum
- November 15: Colosio Neighborhood Dome, Playa del Carmen
- November 29: Region 100 Sports Dome, Cancún
The campaign continues to expand across Quintana Roo, promoting responsible waste disposal and environmental protection.
