Tulum, Quintana Roo — One year after its inauguration, only two of the nearly 20 commercial spaces built at the Tulum Tren Maya station are currently in operation. According to an on-site survey, only a transport establishment and the official Tren Maya store are active. The rest of the commercial spaces remain vacant, with no signs of imminent occupancy, in an environment that appears desolate throughout the day.
The terminal is located at kilometer 4 of the Tulum-Cobá highway and is one of the two official stops the Tren Maya has in this municipality. One is located within the Tulum International Airport, and the other, considered the central station, is situated on the outskirts of the "pueblo mágico." This latter station provides direct service to passengers looking to connect with other destinations on the railway circuit in the southeastern part of the country, in addition to providing direct access to the Parque del Jaguar.
Official information regarding the rental costs for the available commercial spaces was requested from the site's administration, but no response was obtained. Meanwhile, the station remains operational but without the expected commercial activity.
