Cozumel, Quintana Roo — A vehicle belonging to an official of the Quintana Roo State Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) was intentionally set on fire in an early morning attack in the San Gervasio neighborhood.

The incident was reported to the 911 emergency line at approximately 1 a.m., with a caller alerting authorities to a fire on 110th Avenue, between 3rd Street and Morelos Street.

The owner of the vehicle, identified as Jorge N., who serves as the head of the licensing area for Imoveqroo, stated that he witnessed a man dressed entirely in black approach his white Nissan Versa and deliberately set it ablaze.

Municipal, State, and Federal Police officers responded to the scene promptly, securing the area while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames that had fully engulfed the car.

Following the fire, personnel from the State Attorney General's Office initiated an investigation. At the scene, investigators located two plastic containers with fuel residue, which were secured as evidence pointing to a deliberate attack.

Authorities confirm that no arrests have been made in the case thus far.
