Progreso, Yucatán — The organization Diversidad Progreso has announced that the municipal seat will host its ninth annual march in celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
During a press conference held at a well-known restaurant in the port of Chelem, members of the group confirmed that the march will take place on Saturday, June 14, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The procession will depart from "Casa del Pastel" and proceed along the traditional malecón (boardwalk) to 80th Street, near the Juan Miguel Castro monument. From there, participants will continue to Independence Park, located in front of the Municipal Palace, where a peaceful protest and artistic performances will be held.
Coronation of Paige Bomba
This year’s event will feature the crowning of Paige Bomba, who will succeed Keilanyx, last year’s "Queen of Diversity" in Progreso. Additionally, in a continuation of last year’s tradition, Paige Bomba’s parents will also be honored as the "Mother and Father of Diversity" in recognition of their support for their child’s journey within the LGBTQ+ community.
Fifth Pride March in Chelem
Diversidad Progreso also confirmed that Chelem will host its fifth annual LGBTQ+ Pride March on Saturday, May 31, coordinated as part of the national network of marches organized by Pride Yucatán.
The announcement underscores the growing visibility and celebration of LGBTQ+ rights in the region, with both events expected to draw significant participation from local communities and allies.
