Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and Municipal President Estefanía Mercado toured the recently inaugurated ISSSTE Family Medicine Unit in Playa del Carmen, a facility that will strengthen medical care and the right to health for thousands of families in the northern area of Quintana Roo.

During the visit, it was highlighted that the clinic was made possible thanks to the donation of the land by the municipality, as well as coordination between state, federal, and municipal governments, allowing health services to be brought closer to ISSSTE beneficiaries.

New ISSSTE Family Medicine Unit Benefits Thousands of Families

The new medical unit features two general medicine consultation rooms, a dentistry consultation room, a treatment room, a fully stocked pharmacy, a clinical records area, and functional spaces that significantly improve the quality of medical care in Playa del Carmen.

These facilities will directly benefit approximately 14,000 ISSSTE beneficiaries, as well as their families, reducing travel times and improving access to health services in the region.

Investment in Health Strengthens Medical Infrastructure in Quintana Roo

The construction and equipping of the clinic represented an approximate investment of 14 million pesos, in addition to the value of the donated land, consolidating it as a strategic project to address a historic demand for medical services in Playa del Carmen and the northern part of the state.

The authorities agreed that this project sets a precedent to continue expanding health infrastructure in Quintana Roo, with more medical units and specialized services for the population.

Institutional Coordination Drives Well-being in Playa del Carmen

During the tour, the support of ISSSTE Director General Martín Batres, as well as President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, was acknowledged, noting that management and coordination between institutions has allowed progress in improving public health services in the municipality.

With this new unit, Playa del Carmen advances in strengthening ISSSTE medical care, benefiting thousands of families and reaffirming the commitment to the well-being and health of the population in Quintana Roo.
