New Chetumal Hospital Advances with 1.5 Billion Peso Investment

Governor Mara Lezama and Health Secretary Flavio Carlos Rosado supervise construction of the New Chetumal General Hospital

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The New Chetumal General Hospital will benefit more than 270,000 inhabitants of southern Quintana Roo, stated Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa alongside Health Secretary Flavio Carlos Rosado.

This announcement came during a supervision visit to the construction of the new Chetumal General Hospital, a key project in public health matters.

During the tour, the governor verified the physical progress of this hospital infrastructure, considered one of the most relevant works of the current state government due to its direct impact on medical care and social welfare.

Infrastructure, Technology and Comprehensive Care

The New Chetumal General Hospital will have 120 beds, as announced by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, who added that there will be three operating rooms, two delivery rooms, and a labor and delivery surgery room, plus an emergency area and intensive care units for adults, pediatric, and neonatal patients.

The medical complex will be equipped with X-rays, ultrasound, tomography, hemodynamics, magnetic resonance imaging, and clinical laboratory, among other specialized services, which will allow offering modern and quality medical care to the population of southern Quintana Roo.

A Historical Demand That Today Becomes Reality

Health with Humanistic Focus and Social Justice

The head of the Executive emphasized that this hospital is a long-standing aspiration that was not realized in the past due to bad practices and corruption, and that today advances thanks to a humanist government with a feminist heart, aligned with the principles of the fourth transformation.

“This long-demanded work by the population is today a reality. Here is the transformation, in concrete, in steel, in equipment, and in services for the people,” affirmed the governor.

Transparent Public Investment for the Benefit of the People

The New Chetumal General Hospital is being built on a surface area exceeding 25,000 square meters and represents an investment greater than 1.5 billion pesos.

Mara Lezama highlighted that these are public resources that today do reach the people, with the support of the Federal Government, first under the administration of then President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and currently with President Claudia Sheinbaum, through IMSS-Bienestar, headed by Alejandro Svarch Pérez.

Supervision to Guarantee Results and Well-being

The governor emphasized that these supervision visits aim to verify progress, ensure the correct application of resources, and confirm that every peso invested translates into health and well-being for Quintana Roo residents.

She added that this new infrastructure represents social justice for the south of the state, by bringing high-quality medical services, cutting-edge technology, and human-focused care closer.
