Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Nautical Associates of Quintana Roo (ANQR) held a working meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), the State Directorate of the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and the directors of marine parks.
The purpose of the meeting was to review pending commitments and analyze progress in regulating tourist and operational activities within the natural protected areas of the state.
During the encounter, service providers reiterated the importance of updating and clarifying the regulations that establish guidelines for the allocation of spaces on vessels operating within marine parks.
They indicated that this issue has remained unresolved in previous working sessions and requires continuity to ensure both the proper functioning of the nautical sector and compliance with environmental management and protection criteria.
In this context, Semarnat announced that in the coming weeks, “good news” could be announced for the beneficiaries, as they are preparing the simplification of various environmental procedures.
This, they explained, aims to expedite administrative processes and facilitate compliance with obligations for tourism operators and business owners in the sector.
According to the head of the Semarnat Representation Office in Quintana Roo, Yolanda Medina Gámez, the agency is working so that several procedures can be resolved directly in the state, without the need for users to travel to Mexico City.
This was confirmed by Francisco Fernández Millán, president of ANQR, who highlighted that this measure represents a significant advance for the sector.
“They shared with us that good news is coming for the beneficiaries, especially regarding the simplification of procedures, which is fundamental for us. Additionally, environmental permits and impacts are already being resolved in Quintana Roo; it is no longer necessary to go to Mexico City to obtain a resolution, as they have begun issuing them here,” he stated.
Also participating in the meeting were José Arturo González González, director of the Costa Occidental Isla Mujeres–Punta Cancún and Punta Nizuc National Park, as well as Juan Carlos Romero Gil, regional director of the Yucatán Peninsula and Caribbean Sea of CONANP.
With both officials, the members of ANQR reviewed the previously acquired commitments regarding the regulation of spaces on vessels and the guidelines that apply within protected areas.
“We are resuming the agreements that had been pending regarding the regulations and the distribution of spaces on the vessels operating within marine parks. This is a process that requires constant follow-up, and we trust that, with the support of the authorities, we can advance for the benefit of the sector and the environment,” he added.
