Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Public Security Directorate reports that, after receiving a citizen report in the Félix González Canto neighborhood, officers from the corporation went to verify a possible case of animal abuse.
Upon arriving at the indicated location, neighbors pointed out a subject originally from the state of Chiapas, known in the area as “El Pacquiao,” who moments before had been aggressing one of his dogs.
The incident was recorded on video by local residents, who handed over the material to the agents.
Given this situation, the officers detained the individual and requested the intervention of the Municipal Animal Control Instance, in order to guarantee the integrity of the involved animal.
The subject was transferred to the Public Security facilities, where he was placed at the disposal of the corresponding authority.
It will be the competent instance that determines the sanctions and legal procedures that correspond in accordance with current regulations.
The Public Security Directorate reaffirms its commitment to the protection of animals, compliance with the law, and timely attention to citizen reports, encouraging the population to continue reporting any act that puts the integrity of living beings at risk.
