Cancún, Mexico — Municipal security authorities and the Attorney General's Office of Benito Juárez have presented conclusive reports regarding the fight against organized crime and common delinquency over the last three months.
According to the official report, from July 16 to October 14, authorities secured more than 15,000 doses of drugs, primarily marijuana and crystal meth. The operations also led to the seizure of 36 firearms, of which 30 were handguns and six were long guns, in addition to 40 magazines and 500 usable cartridges.
During the same operations, 51 vehicles and 60 motorcycles linked to criminal activities were removed from circulation. Authorities also recovered nine automobiles and 53 motorcycles that had been reported stolen.
Furthermore, security operations resulted in more than two thousand detentions for administrative infractions and nearly 600 arrests for common law crimes. These arrests included charges for illegal carrying of firearms, crimes against public health, and domestic violence.
Notably, the security actions have contributed to a 57.5 percent reduction in intentional homicides compared to the same period last year, reflecting the positive impact of the strategy and inter-institutional coordination.
Finally, with these actions, the municipal security authorities reaffirm their commitment to peace, prevention, and the protection of citizens, consolidating a police model based on proximity, deterrence, and immediate response.
